Non-fiction Editor
Non-fiction Editor in Santa Barbara, serving Los Angeles and New York
Non-fiction is anything that is not fiction; therefore, its possibilities are endless. Biographies, autobiographies, memoirs, histories, essays, magazine articles, academic papers are all non-fiction, yet each has its own focus and style. An autobiography is written in your own voice while a biography is a researched work about someone else entirely. Most of the time we read non-fiction. An important aspect of writing non-fiction is to know why you are writing it and for whom, for there are always two of you: the writer and the reader. You must somehow satisfy both, and your information must be thoroughly researched (often including citations, footnotes, and bibliographies— but not always).
While I cannot vouch for the accuracy of your research, I might question it as we work together in order to organize and to write your material. I will always encourage you to write in your own style since that produces the trust that a reader must have in an author. I will identify your style quickly, and I will always listen to that voice as your true story is being told. You are the writer. I am the editor who keeps you on track.
